Architecture Decision Record
A Decision Record, commonly referred to as an Architecture Decision Record (ADR), is a document that outlines the rationale, objectives, considerations, and agreed-upon decisions applied to a system architecture.
Format
The CentriCare team records ADRs based on the template published by Jeff Tyree and Art Akerman.
Titles must be written using the following format: ADR.<YEAR>.<3-DIGIT INCREMENTAL NUMBER> - <THE ACTUAL TITLE>.
Status
An ADR includes a status indicator to show its current lifecycle stage:
- Proposed: The decision is currently submitted for consideration.
- Discussion: The decision is under active review and evaluation.
- Accepted: The decision has been approved and accepted.
- Superseded: The decision has been replaced by a subsequent decision record.
